Andalucia Day 15 Tarifa - Caños de Meca
Time to move on. There's a layer of sand on everything the next morning, on the tent, on everything in the 'living-room' part of the tent, on the car, on the dishes left out to dry. We get up latish, at past 8 and take our time packing up. The bill for four nights is 93€, very reasonable. We enjoyed our stay at Camping Torre de la Peña, the beach bar is spectacular, the views from all over the campsite as well, clean facilities.
We drive north, stopping briefly at Zahara de los Atunes but there are enormous gusts of wind and sand and we can't face the beach. We nosy round a Día supermarket and get jamón serrano to add to some of the last tomatoes and just past Zahara sit in the car to picnic and watch the waves and whirls of sand on the beach.
A couple parks near us and heads determinedly to the beach. They walk a short while, then he goes into the water and cavorts a bit. She takes photos and then they scurry back to the car for shelter.
From Barbate to Caños de Meca we go through the Barbate natural park, a pine forest on the coast. At the next campsite in Caños the wind seems stronger than ever, but we manage to get the tent up without getting blown away with it and fry little squids in the shelter of the barbecue area. Blissfully, the wasps seem to have lost track of us and so we eat unSpanishly early and look forward to an early night. The weather forecast says the wind will start to drop tomorrow.
