Sardinia in May Day 13 - Santa Teresa di Gallura
Clouds loom on Monday morning so we decide to look around Santa Teresa di Gallura. We're not expecting much. No offence to Sardinia but there aren't so many attractive small historical centres as in other parts of Italy.
We park in the car park where the market is held, free at this time of year and walk up to the large modern square. From there we carry on to the Belvedere, along to the Longonsardo tower, down to the cross from where there's a fine view towards the fjord like entrance to the port of Santa Teresa, back up towards the belvedere then across the road and down some rather precarious steps to the walkway along the rocks. There are some interesting flowers, in particular a geranium erodium corsu and some silene.
We end up on the beach of Rena Bianca, nice but sloping down quite steeply.
It's still cloudy and there are a few drops of rain so we go back to the car, stop at the supermarket for some shopping and go home to cook. In the afternoon and into the evening it rains, not a drizzle, proper rain. Our host had told us they've had no rain for six months so the rain is good. We sit and snooze and I read a whole book.
