Costa degli Etruschi May 2021 - Tombolo di Cecina
On Thursday morning the wind is even stronger. We attempt the beach of Cecina Mare but after 20 minutes walk battling against the wind we retreat to the peace and calm of the Tombolo pinewood. The beach side, again, is impossible because of the wind so we walk through the beautiful forest, carpeted with cyclamens,
to the gate at the Bibbona end. It's calm and pleasant in the forest, walking along the lane is fast and relaxing. I would like to go to Marina di Bibbona in search of lunch but Andrea rightly points out that we have cuttlefish waiting at home so we walk back to the car, making surprisingly good time on the 5km return trip.
After a late lunch and a rest we aim for Spiagge bianche at the Vada end but the wind is just too strong and too cold and we give up and stop at Angolo dei Golosi on the way back to stock up on bread, schiaccia and pasticcini, I have some work to do too.
