Puglia - Brindisi in November Trip Report

Brindisi Trip Report
We spent a week in Brindisi mid-November 2017. The weather was mild with a few showers and just half a day of rain, fine for wandering around and sightseeing.
Brindisi is just 10 minutes from the airport and connected with a frequent bus service. It's also on the main train line so it was a convenient base for us to visit also Bari, Lecce and Ostuni.

The historical centre of Brindisi itself is clean, pleasant and tidy, fine for wandering around. There aren't many tourists so it was a relaxing place to be, also out in the evening it felt perfectly safe. The harbour front is a very pleasant area and the water bus across to Villaggio Pescatori and the Monument to Sailors makes a nice trip.

Brindisi is not packed with things to see but combined with trips to Lecce, Bari, Ostuni and the coast there was plenty for a slow traveller to be contented for a week. Highlights in Brindisi itself were definitely the waterfront, Piazza Duomo especially by night, Santa Maria del Casale and Tempio di San Giovanni al Sepolcro

It would also probably be worth visiting Carovigno and Mesagne by public transport, our last afternoon was wet so we stayed in to relax instead. Access to interesting places on the sea was not so easy by public transport, compared to Bari for example. A good place for a few days on a slow travel trip in Puglia, we enjoyed our stay very much.
