Andalucia Days 59 and 60 the road towards home

We set off from Arlés with timid sunshine after a night of being tortured by dastardly, crafty and late season mosquitoes which hide under the bed when we put the lights on to hunt them and start work again as soon as we give up. We don't need an alarm to wake up and are in the car by just past eight. Despite the optimistic weather forecast we soon run into clouds and drizzle as we drive along the Cote d'Azur motorway. We get to San Remo by lunchtime to a very nice welcome from our Airbnb host Clarissa, the room is spacious, very pleasantly decorated and with bathroom en suite. We venture out for a late light lunch but inevitably the price shock between southern Spain and Liguria is acute. We plead lack of appetite due to our long journey and come out of Pagoda restaurant with one euro change out of twenty after one pizza Margherita, an admittedly large portion of lasagne and a litre of mineral water.
The clouds are dark and menacing, Clarissa's accommodation bright and inviting and we are suddenly tired so the rest of the day is spent dozing, reading, a little Internet, a cheese sandwich with leftover Camembert from Arlés and an early night.
We obviously needed the rest because the next day we both feel a lot brighter, unlike the weather. Liguria, with the road on top of the railway on top of the coast and houses squeezed in between feels cramped under the dark clouds and the motorway is narrow and full of bends after the wide emptiness of Spanish roads and the ample French motorways. Thankfully early on Sunday morning in November there's hardly any traffic and we arrive at La Moretta for lunchtime.
We succumb to gnocco fritto and antipasti for two and a portion of bollito misto between the two of us. It must be said, as I mentioned on Day 1, that the food at La Moretta is excellent, but with half a litre of wine and half of water and two coffees the bill comes to a reel with shock 45€. Ok La Moretta, but never again on a Sunday. By the way, the restaurant and events room behind were packed, obviously it's just us who have got used to eating, yes, excellent food, but cheap as well, in Spain. We arrive at our flat on the lake and take stock.
