Andalucia Day 56 Figueres

Figueres in November

We get off to an undecided start. We're tired from yesterday, it's a bit cloudy, the idea of more walking is unappealing. In the end we decide to go to Figueres via some supermarkets because when we leave here we'll be leaving Spain so it's time to stock up on more wine and small edible or drinkable gifts for friends. We also stop at a shop called Wine Palace which has not only an enormous selection of wine but also of every alcoholic drink I've ever heard of and some I haven't. There are some industrial sized bottles of whisky.

In Figueres we don't visit the Dali museum, because we don't particularly like Dali and it costs €14 per person. Surprisingly, given the comments we'd read about the town, this doesn't leave much to do in Figueres. The Ramblas takes about 5 minutes to walk down, slow or not slow, and the main church is quite nice but small and so weakly lit it's difficult to make out much.
We give the castle a miss too and have lunch at 100 Montaditos because it's Wednesday and everything is €1 and because it's easy. We now have our favourites and spend just €12 for 6 Montaditos, a jarra de cerveza , an orange juice and two coffees.
The afternoon is spent looking round more supermarkets, with a few kilometres between them, but it has to be done. The last stop, as always, is Mercadona, where we find a nice 'bonito' a small cousin of the tuna fish, and one of the few types of fish we haven't eaten so far during the holiday. Then back to the flat to start some serious packing.
Kilometres by car: 120
